House fire in Ansonia today...it was so windy, the fire spread to two other houses and even ignited a tree across the street. At the end of the day, three houses were destroyed.

This is the crowd I run with. We're all about facial scars, drinking Schaeffer's Beer, and arm wrestling girls.

Alex, an old college buddy and aspiring photographer, joined me on a self-guided tour of an 18th century factory in Seymour, CT today. We got permission to shoot in this old factory, but sadly enough I really didn't get to shoot much. Minutes after I took this, I fell through a weak spot of the floor. I nearly went right through, but caught myself just in time. I split my chin open, which required four stitches. I'm fine now and ready to get back into that place sometime next week. The light is incredible and pours in from skylights, tall windows, and apparently holes from the second floor thanks to my unfortunate handy work. I half-heartedly hope that my chin scars because I feel that I'm lacking in the facial scar department. The chicken pox scar on my right cheek doesn't exactly qualify for interesting battle scar conversation.

I worked on my NET project Friday night and went out with Officers Ron Jersey and Jessi Pizarro again. It was a long night that started slow and ended with Ron and Jessi making an arrest and getting a hand gun off the streets. It was their second seized gun in one week. Following a police shootout on Thursday night on Stratford Avenue, we returned to the area and the team began to aggressively seek out any more potential trouble. In brief, eagle-eyed Ron sighted a potential drug deal, a short foot chase began, and one of the two suspects threw a handgun during the chase. Below are a few edits from the night. (Click on them to enlarge.)
8:20:28 PM: Officer Ron Jersey sits in an abandoned apartment in a housing projects complex during a drug surveillance mission.
9:16:50 PM: Ron and Jessi handcuff one of two suspects following a foot chase after a suspected drug deal.
9:28:42 PM: A handgun is found and recovered near a car along a driveway behind an apartment building.
9:49:02 PM: To protect the identity of a witness, police use bright spot lights to blind the suspect as the witness views from a police cruiser. The witness confirmed that the suspect, a 16-year-old male, was previously in possession of the recovered handgun.

I shadowed two Bridgeport Police officers, Ron Jersey, left, and Jessi Pizarro, right, from the Neighborhood Enforcement Team on Tuesday evening. They patrol a rough section of Bridgeport called "the hollow" and take a pro-active approach in dealing with the rampant drug problem in the projects. These guys were exciting to photograph...very fast-paced, professional, and down-to-earth. I'm looking to do something more in-depth with this enforcement team.
