A few edits from four recent weddings...

August 21, 2008

I apologize for the excessive delay in posting new material up here. I just moved to NY a few weeks ago and I'm settling into my new position as Director of Communications at Friends Seminary, a private school in Manhattan. The school has a very strong reputation for being a diverse and philosophically open school. It's one of the oldest schools in NYC, opening its doors in 1786. It has some incredible alums...Theodore Roosevelt all the way to modern day celebrities like Kyra Sedgwick and Amanda Peet. My colleagues - staff and faculty - are great and I'm adjusting really well to the position in the midst of a bustling city. I do miss Naugatuck in many regards, along with my friends at Sacred Heart, but I'm happy I made the leap.

Along with the move, I'm also in the process of selling my Naugatuck condo, which I have found a buyer...looking to close Sept 30th! When I haven't been making condo improvement reconnaissance missions to Naugatuck on weekends, I've been entrenched in the production of the school's Annual Report only three weeks into my new position. On top of that, I've been shooting weddings, including one coming up this weekend in Vermont. I've been exhausted to say the least. I'm looking forward to September....the Annual Report will be complete and I don't have any weddings booked until October. So here's just a few images from a recent engagement session with Josh and Ayn-Monique at Riverside Park in NYC. I'll be posting a few recent wedding images shortly as well. Some rodeo re-edits...

I was digging through some archived images and came across a shoot I did with Raquel Beezley a few years ago when I was living in California. Beezley was recently named Miss California USA....after some confusion that made national headlines. I have to admit that I am hooked on textured layers, so bear with me until I get through this phase....

I caught up with Franky Gugliotti, an old friend and the subject of an old photo story, at a rodeo in Goshen, Connecticut. Franky won the bull riding competition. Here's a few images from the day.

I had the opportunity to photograph Martin Sheen and about a dozen other actors during a stop at Sacred Heart University. The troupe performed a short play, Speak Truth to Power, which was part of a human rights conference at the university. Click here to view the portraits toned a bit more traditionally.

And here are textured versions of some of the portraits...

It may seem that these two are planning world domination, but they're just two NASA curators demonstrating how to operate an interactive video game at a traveling exhibit on display at Sacred Heart University.

On the way down to NYC to visit some friends, my friend Catie and I saw some incredible light in a cemetery. We thought the storm had passed through, but after I took the frame below, we nearly got struck by lightning!

Check out Catie's blog, tu est la radio. She just finished up a piece for NPR that will air nationally.
